Policies and Procedures
The Pre-school's policies and procedures can be emailed on request or hardcopies are available for every parent/carer. Below are a few of our more important policies.
Settling In - Starting a Pre-school is obviously a big step in any child's life and the way in which they respond will vary. A child who is tense or unhappy will not be able to play and learn properly, so we encourage parents/carers and staff to work together to help the child feel confident and secure in the group. We recognise that this takes longer for some children than for others and parents/carers should not be worried if their child takes a while to settle. Please feel free to speak with your child’s key person or the Manager, Helen Style, if you have and worries or concerns regarding the settling of the child.
In order for the child to feel free to explore and experiment with all kinds of materials, including some messy ones, we suggest the child wears clothes that are durable and washable. We do have a pre-school polo shirt and bag (for storing a change of clothing) which we strongly recommend to parents – a t-shirt can be purchased from the administrator. Simple jogging bottoms or pull on trousers/skirts that children can handle themselves will enable them to manage their personal hygiene with greater ease and efficiency. Please try to send the child in clothing without fasteners (buttons and zips) and please no belts, as these are restrictive, time consuming and may cause embarrassment at toilet times. Lace up shoes are not permitted rather your child should wear velcro, zip or slip on footwear. Please not crocs and flip flops are not allowed.
